If we consider the textual, content-related link between the different songs (which also exists to some extent, thanks to Paul's contributions), John is right; but the relevance of this thing is negligible... therefore... the medley is a masterpiece (even if he couldn't shut up, John, we love him very much anyway ^^).

The verdict was a correct one. And sadly both songwriters are long dead.

Ringo didn't record Back in the USSR. I'm not sure exactly why he walked out, but John's divorce drama was in full force at the time, and I bet John was difficult to work with when he was in a foul mood. John actually filed for divorce first, but after Cynthia caught John and Yoko in bed together, she filed a counterclaim, which arrived on the day they recorded Back in the USSR. Paul recorded most of the drums with John and George both adding drum overdubs.

"This Song" is just George griping. Not much of anything else.

So who played live at the bbc, shea stadium, the Ed Sullivan show, etc etc yeah… sure. The record company will always be about their tricks in production but come on your 15- 18!song you overdubbed gets a shoulder shrug. You weren’t in the studio with the other 3 so that’s where the magic happened

John is just too critical of the Beatles work after the break-up. If he had lived past 1980 I believe he and the others would have finally been back to being best mates.They all need the dust settle after breaking up. The fact that they all contribute on each others solo albums, with a little more time passing and they would probably come together again for some special projects as The Beatles. When you watch the Anthology videos you can see that if John was there it would have been so much fun for all of them reminiscing as former bandmates. After all the anguish, confusion and frustration of everything that had happened after Brian Epstein had passed away, it's amazing how when it came to making music they always were professional and had fun doing it. In Peter Jackson's "Get Back" documentary you can see how much fun they started to have in the studio instead of a freezing soundstage with no decent recording equipment (Not counting the Nagra that was used with syncing sound and film). The rooftop performance is truly great under such horrible weather circumstances. Thank you Billy Preston for being the glue that holds those recording together. Being actually the last album made, "Abbey Road" proves they can still be the best band in the world and go out on on high note!

I remember calling KPFT - Houston's Pacifica station - in 1978 to request Hey Bulldog, and the DJ refused to play it. I never really forgave KPFT for that slight. Bulldog has been my favorite Beatles song by far ever since Yellow Submarine was released. I'm also peeved by this video's dismissal of the song's "nonsense lyrics." NONSENSE LYRICS?!?!?! Gimme a fucking break. This are GREAT lyrics.

God I wish more bands used strings nowadays.

I had previously gotten the impression somehow that Bernard was hired to fill in when Ringo briefly quit during Abbey Road, so the whole side of it being about 'sweetening the early stuff' is news to me, but he's one of those guys who did so much uncredited work that I could absolutely believe he did lots of that stuff where he didn't always know who the band was at the time, or didn't care because everything doesn't become a hit and he seemingly did hundreds of sessions like that.
